A few months ago, 50 Cent basically said that Kanye owed his success to his being a non-threatening, watered down alternative to 50 Cent.  It was kinda like saying “I’m NWA and you’re Vanilla Ice.”

Kanye West did not lash back immediately.  Like they say, living well is the best revenge.

Kanye used some careful language to address 50 Cent’s comments in a recent interview.

“When someone gives their opinion I respect that more.  I would rather someone not like me and say they don’t like my music than someone lie to my face and say they do like it.  I’m in this position, I can’t even say who I like or don’t like anymore. The reason I don’t is that I know I have influence over people; I wouldn’t want their record sales to go down. I wouldn’t wanna bring anybody down.  So I keep my opinions to myself or just to my inner circle.“
