WiFi is Advancing

Posted in Everything Else by totaldis on the February 22nd, 2007

Being wireless is cool. I think as soon as people got over that simple reaction, a lot of techologists got to work figuring out how to make wireless benefit business. They are making progress, so much so that wireless is becoming undeniably important to business. It is affecting the way business happens.

To some degree the wifi revolution is driven by hardware advances. Wi-Fi enabled notebooks are driving the adoption of wireless LANs (WLANs). In the past, technology advancements were driven by technology professionals. The explosion of enterprise WLANs is being driven by smartphone users, traveling executives, wireless applications, and mobility services. The rapid adoption of WLAN technology is radically transforming how business is done.

Anywhere, anytime connectivity is quickly becoming an expectation and sometimes a requirement. The payoff to companies comes as increased employee productivity, enhanced collaboration, and improved customer responsiveness.

Cisco is a big player in this revolution. They can provide business with superior wireless security, management, deployment, radio frequency (RF) technology and mobility to help enable real time access to core business applications. They can deliver enterprise-class secure connectivity.

They also provide video conferencing solutions for business. This is not an new concept, but as the quality and functionality of video conferencing increases, people are finding new and effective ways to use it.

Lindsay Lohan

I just thought that I would mention her in hopes that the attention might help keep her from doing anything stupid to get attention. Britney has raised the bar so high in that department that I shudder to think what a young woman would have to do to take the spotlight away from her.

Oh, she is socializing with Steve-O.

Steve-O abuses everything. But I don’t think associating with him helps your star power.

Bumper Stickers

Posted in Everything Else by totaldis on the February 22nd, 2007

I have always left the bumper stickers on any used car I bought. I didn’t matter if they were proud rainbows or proud stars and stripes. I am in a situation now where the car that I am driving is so old and sunbeaten that the stickers of the previous owner have faded away completely I am seriously considering buying some new bumper stickers.

Luckily, I found this site that allows you to customize stickers and get as many colors as you want for a low price. The company ONLY sells stickers and they know their niche. CustomizedStickers.com can provide you with any size shape and color you want. There is no extra charge for the artwork. The materials are high quality and they have a lowest price guarantee.

I am glad to see that they put a UV protection coating on after printing. Like I said the stickers on my 18 year old car don’t say anything anymore.

The minimum order with this company is 250 bumper stickers. So you need to either have lots of friends or lots of bumper. I know a guy on a popular forum who had an order made and was providing them to interested people at cost. It was a success. If you had a really great idea for a sticker you might have people willing to pay more than cost. My ideas tend to appeal to less than 250 people most of the time. And of course, you can use bumper stickers to promote your business. Bumper stickers are a great place to advertise your URL. If you have a band, consider this, there are 4 million new cars bought by first time buyers each year in the US. New cars don’t come with bumper stickers.

I am going to go through the motions of choosing the look of my bumper stickers for the purposes of review now. First good point I see, they present the options of submitting your own art or describing what you want to their art department. The artwork is at no extra charge and their work looks good, so I would consider using the service unless you have a logo already.

They provide lots of details about what formats to submit, and they can work with lots of common image formats. They have good instructions on fonts. They have a toll free number.

This is not a cookie cutter kind of business, you can get exaclty the sticker that you envision at a good price. I should mention that they are fast, too. Typically they ship in 7 days.

Something to Be Dismayed about

Posted in Britney Spears, Naughty Celebrities by totaldis on the February 22nd, 2007

The rumors that Britney cut off all of her hair because Kevin threatened to get a court ordered drug test performed on her hair are a bit disturbing. I became more disturbed when I started research about these tests and stumbled upon all the online stores selling products that reputedly help you pass a drug test.

The only products that I don’t have any objections to or doubts about are the home test kits. And even those are probably used most often to test the effectiveness of the other products.

You can even buy artificial urine. If you are considering making a purchase of a bag of artificial urine, please read what I have to say first. What would be cheaper to produce, artificial urine or real urine? Real urine, of course. Who would be so dysfunctional that the only job they could get was peeing in a bag? Crackheads, of course. If there a money back guarantee on a bag of pee? Probably not.

Transformers???

Posted in Celebrity Catfights by totaldis on the February 21st, 2007

Yes, Virginia, there is a Transformers Live Action Movie. I found out about it by plugging a secret code into the Google bar (hint, it contains the word worst).

This is a tense human drama in which Jon Voight and John Turturro engage in an epic battle about the best way to spell John.

The most amazing thing about this movie is the number of people that share the credit for it. It is quite possible that there are more credited cast and crew for this movie, that is in post production, than there will viewers when it hits the theaters.

**Spoiler Alert**

John, the best way to spell John is John.

I am going to Fidget with this Widget

Posted in Everything Else by totaldis on the February 21st, 2007

This used to happen to me all the time when I would go into those gigantic home improvement stores. I would see an amazing new tool and I would have this irresistible urge to get it even though I had no idea what I was going to do with it. I guess the big differences between the Box.net Widget and a radial arm saw are that the widget is free and that even if I don’t use it as skillfully as I intend to, I will still get to keep all my fingers.

The Box.net widget is pretty cool. They will host a whole gig of files for you and you can embed the code for a player on your blog.

This is what you get:

Get your own Box.net widget and share anywhere!

You can expect to see one on this blog soon with some music and maybe a movie.

You have unlimited bandwidth with this widget.

Where is Tom Cruise?

I think that this man has made a very sound decision in minimizing his public exposure for a reasonable period of time. I just noticed that he was over there on my category list being ignored. I am going to do a search and see what the latest news is…

Supposedly, he did a cameo bit for Bratz:The Movie…Paula Abdul executive produces this gem.
I assumed it was a cartoon, but IMDb lists it as live action. I thought they already did a live action Bratz thing, it was called Friends.

If You Lived in This Blog You Would Be Home Right Now !!!

People like me who string a bunch of words together and publish them on the Internet have have a few ways of knowing how much attention our creation is getting.

Hits are just that, a single web browser somewhere on the planet loads your page and the hit number is increased by one. This occurrence is a source of validation for many bloggers, but when you think about it, it doesn’t really mean much. It doesn’t even mean that a human being has read your words.

Comments, those are great. I have v1agraw salesman offering words of encouragement and a screen full of links on an hourly basis. I would approve a few so you folks could see them, but I think that cheapens the special bond that they and I have formed. I like relevant comments, I really wish I had more of them.

Incoming links are where it is really at. That means that somebody else has looked at your website long enough to decide that they want to put code on their page that points web browsers to your page. SEO partly involves carefully increasing the number of incoming links that a given page has. The inspiration for this post is actually so I can take the opportunity to provide a link to an SEO related Webmasters blog. I checked out the blog that the preceeding link points to and it is indeed a blog with good quality content related to SEO. I am curious about a recent post about a deep links only directory. My understanding of SEO is rudimentary at best and I am interested in learning more.

A Mash-Up Idea

Posted in Celebrity Relationships, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson by totaldis on the February 20th, 2007

There are some instrumental parts of Toxic by Britney Spears and Billy Jean by Michael Jackson that I think would mash really well. I don’t know if it’s been done. I prefer mash-ups that are inspired by complimentary music to ones that are done because you can make a witty commentary with the titles. I am going to actually try to make this one work. I may post a snippet on here if I am satisfied with the result.

Here is Britney and Michael to entertain you in the meantime. Why does fame make people crazy?

McDonalds, I’m Not Lovin’ It

Posted in Everything Else by totaldis on the February 20th, 2007

When I was working a summer job on the payroll of the federal government of Canada, one of my duties was picking up litter for a couple of hours every morning. Anyone who has done this inevitably gets an idea of what the main sources of litter are. Fast food litter wasn’t that high on the list because I was working at an airport. Coffee cups were number one.

After working for a few summers at that job, I think my eyes are permanently trained to spot and identify litter. I am certain that McDonalds is the biggest single source of litter where I am currently living. I am glad that they stopped using styrofoam years ago. I think that Mcdonalds should hire one person in every major market to patrol the areas where this litter tends to show up. The person should be dressed in a Ronald costume and he should be empowered to issue citations to people that litter. I am not sure whether or not he should be armed, that would vary by jurisdiction.
