Who’s Your Best Friend?: My Wife is My Best Friend

Posted in Everything Else by totaldis on the April 7th, 2007

Fellow Blogger Jules has posed the question Who is your best friend?. My wife is my best friend. I can remember weekend evenings at my parents house when their best friends came over to socialize. It seemed bizarre to me to witness two mutually exclusive conversations going on simultaneously at one small kitchen table. It was like men and women were living in parallel universes.

Catherine and I have several important things in common. Pop culture references are one of these things. If you make a snide remark about Sting’s self importance to someone who doesn’t know who Sting is, it just isn’t the same. She thinks it is hilarious when I put an Adam Duritz technorati tag on one of my posts just so he’ll look at it and get all weirded out.

Our legs are the exact same length. This is only useful for holding hands on long walks. Back to the pop culture, she knows this is a Seinfeld reference.

We are always on each other’s side in an argument. This gets really weird when we argue with each other, which we hardly ever do. The last argument was in 2002. It was about corn on the cob (long story).

We want to make each other happy.

  1. I know who Adam Duritz is without clicking on the link ;) Arguing about corn on the cob. That sound eerily familiar to the arguments I have with my husband. Thanks for participating!
