I grew up in Canada about a day’s drive away from the US border. Eagles were a regular sight where I lived. Later on, I moved to an area where they wintered en masse, taking advantage of discarded poultry offal from the local farms.

Eagles are pretty awesome. I don’t care what Benjamin Franklin said about them. My kids are bird watchers and when they start talking about birds my wife sometimes says that she is only interested in birds if they are really big or really colorful. Eagles are really big.
