I am a Searcher
I decided to play with Google a bit today. Rather than be specific in my searches, I decided to be as general as possible. I was curious to see what would be at the top of a few different searches.
An image search for the word photograph gave me an amazing picture of lightning striking a town in the Mojave Desert.
An image search for the word person gave me Police Chief Randy Person… I can hear all you Brits laughing…randy is not a commonly used adjective in America.
The most fascinating search that I performed was a web search for the word website. Here are the top ten entries:
- Wikipedia’s entry for ‘Website
- Microsoft
- The World Health Organization
- The official Simpsons movie website
- The official JK Rowling Website
- Starbucks Coffee Company
- Adobe
- The White House
- Website.com (you’d think they could do better)
- HillaryClinton.com
I don’t know how important being on the first page for the query website could be. I may be the only person who has ever made that query (I don’t really think so).

Very interesting results that turned up. I tried doing it just now and returned different results (after the wikipedia one). Perhaps this is such a “competitive” keyword (everyone is using it.. not necessarily targeting it though)?
