Cause of Death?
I was finally bored enough to look at the ‘Best of Craigslist’ pages. I was mildly amused by this page that was giving away a collection of cat hats.
The poster says that the pictured cat is dead. When I look in its eyes in the pictures, I am 110% certain that it was suicide. This is an altered picture of Snowman. I hope his next life involves more dignity than the last.
Sunday Self Portrait of My Lap
I received ZERO comments on my last self portrait. It’s good to see that everyone remembers the advice of their mother about what to do when they have nothing good to say.
I am enlisting cuteness this week. We have a gas heater in the office and we have occasionally had to throw this cat out into the rain because she would not stop walking right up to it. I think she has finally figured out the association. Laps good, open flames bad.
Self Portrait Sunday: After The Rain
We have a water reservoir underneath our maisonette. It has been filling with rainwater quite steadily for the past week or so. This morning my landlord called from upstairs and asked me to check to see whether is was full and to disconnect the elbow in the courtyard if it was. Once it is full, the extra water goes out an overflow pipe into his father-in-law’s field. It was full.
I am glad that it has stopped raining.
I have company for this Sunday Self Portrait. His name is Vic.
Worst Christmas Gift Ideas Part II: Cat Milk
I had to buy this cat milk so I could bring it to show all the guys at work. When I did some research I found out that dairy cats endure a lot of indignity and discomfort. I think we should all boycott the cat milk industry. If you want to join the boycott, be sure to check the ingredients on your cheese, butter and ice cream to be sure that it is not made with cat milk.
This might be one of the most important and also easily sustained boycotts that you could ever join.
I Forgot about Name That Cat Saturday, Sorry
Better late than never. The cat to be named this week is at the end of this movie. It is one of the very wild ones. It was not at the doorstep for my impromptu movie shoot. One of these feral kittens, Patch, has decided that she wants to be an indoor cat. We don’t want that.
Last week’s cat will be named Mack.
Cats Versus Cars
In most IRL altercations of this type the cars always win. It’s sad but true. I have decided that my blog can be a level playing field. I am going to evenly distribute cat posts and car posts and see what generates more interest. This is going to be random and unscientific. I may develop some bias as it progresses. I do not have any strong bias at this time.
Cats are not My Golden Ticket
I honestly thought that putting a cute kitty on my blog would cause an explosive increase in traffic. While it did generate some interest from the people who happened to see it, the results weren’t quite what I expected.
I am going to continue with my cat related postings. We have made a plan to capture some feral cats and take them to a vet to be spayed. That should make for an interesting blog post or two.
I borrowed a cage from the SPCA last week because a new cat had shown up with a nasty swelling on her chin. As it turned out, she was uncatchable and when I conferred with the vet he gave me some broad spectrum antibiotics to put in food. A few days after we started with the crushed pills and tuna, her abscess drained and she seemed to be healthier and able to use her mouth more effectively. A few days after that, she stopped showing up. I suspect that she found a daily handout that didn’t taste like medicine. It probably was making her quite paranoid when we had special food for her and would chase her away from the good stuff that we fed the other cats. I have never photographed her. She was quite unattractive when we first saw her and only slightly better when last we saw her.
Name that Cat Saturday
I did say a few months ago that I would NEVER have a Cat category on my blog. I was wrong. Please don’t sue me.
The feral and quasi-domestic cats are coming to our door for handouts in increasing numbers and I thought it would be cool to post their pictures and let people suggest names. There will most probably be a weekly poll. In future weeks, there may be prizes. That depends on the level of participation.
UPDATE: This cat is now called Patch.
Be sure to look for a new unnamed cat next Saturday.
