Take That, Dick Cheney

Dick Cheney’s Sunglasses

I like Dick Cheney. I mean, he is not pretentious. He is no more or less evil than he lets on. The crazy speculation about a naked lady reflected in his shades in an official photograph is amusing. It is the closest that he has ever been to seeming sexy. Maybe his sexiness is the real reason for his steadfast refusal to run for President. He knows that his nation is not yet ready for a sexy President.

By the way, it is just the reflection of the VP’s hand gripping his pole.

TuberDude

Posted in Cool Stuff by totaldis on the April 3rd, 2008

I created something that I am kinda proud of, which makes me look kinda crazy.

I had this neat idea for a crowd sourcing project to create a virtual Mister Potato Head that uses YouTube videos for the facial features. I have not been able to build a webpage that has a table of these videos on a potato in the right configuration. I am a noob when it comes to code.

I decided to create a crude imitation of what I want to do on a YouTube page instead. I had another small disappointment when I discovered that someone already used the username TuberDude on YouTube. I have TuberDude.com but I have had to go with an alternate spelling for the YouTube channel.

My selection of favorites includes short videos that are just an image of potato skin with no audio. On of these received over 500 hits. Here it is, enjoy…

Hillary and Walmart

I advise against buying plastic toys, and here I am coming up with an idea for a repackaging idea for one. Enjoy my idea, but don’t buy a Hillary doll, or any other plastic doll from Walmart.

(edit: They don’t sell Hillary dolls in Wal-Mart. The image is a transformative work using the nutcracker that was so popular among Republicans and masochists last Christmas. Don’t buy one.)

Cooking With The Sun

There is a gigantic ball of gas burning all the time in the middle of our solar system. You might as well cook something while it’s on.

Summer seems like it’s just around the corner and I am moving into a place with a south facing back yard. I have been thinking about cooking with the sun. I don’t know how useful the kit in the picture would be, but it looks pretty simplistic.

SCI has developed a very simple solar cooker for use in refugee camps. After reading up on this program, I felt compelled to make a modest donation to the organization. Here is a video showing people in Chad building and using the cookers…

Grandfather Clocks Make Great Gifts

Posted in Cool Stuff, Furniture, Christmas by totaldis on the December 7th, 2007

As Christmas approaches you may be wracking your brains about that one special gift. Don’t forget about grandfather clocks. They are beautiful, functional and they will be given a prominent place in your recipient’s home, thus serving as a constant reminder of your generosity and good taste. 1-800-4clocks.com features a lowest price guarantee and excellent customer service.

The mantel clocks, grandfather clocks and wall clocks that are available at 1-800-4clocks.com are of the finest quality. They include top rated brands like Howard Miller clocks, Ridgeway clocks, Kieninger clocks and Hermle clocks

clock.jpgThe Presidential clocks described on the Grandfather clocks blog are really intriguing. These clocks are especially ornate and they tend to reflect the era from which each President came. If Barrack Obama ever gets a Presidential clock named after him, I think it will be one that has really big hands. If Fred Thompson were to have a Presidential Grandfather clock named after him, it would make those noises from the Law and Order theme song. If Ron Paul were to have a Presidential Grandfather clock named after him, that would be redundant, as the end of time would have occurred before then. Feel free to comment with any other suppositions related to past present or future Presidents. All joking aside, I really like the Howard Miller Eisenhower Grandfather Clock that is pictured here.

This is the window of a decorative art shop that is in JFK Square. I prefer to enjoy exquisite decor vicariously. I was shopping for a coat rack this week because we don’t have one. I found some very nice ones that cost more than I was expecting to pay. My leather coat got a touch of mildew this summer and I want to be able to hang it somewhere with dry air.

A Very Nice Instrument

I was getting an early start on compiling a list of Christmas tunes to play during office hours next month. I got sidetracked when I saw a Greensleeves interpretation from the guitarist featured in this video. I’m choosing to embed the story of the instrument to save you some time, because you would be curious if you just saw him playing. He collaborates with another great player on some very pleasant music such as the Greensleeves suite. They call themselves Bardou. You can also find them on iTunes.

Further Review of the Homoerotic ManHunt2

Some of the major improvements that have been made in the second installment of Manhunt have to do with interior decorating and fashion. Check out this old screenshot:

Now look at how the great guys at Rockstar took the look from Drabulous to Fabulous.

I think parents should ignore the R rating that the prudes in the industry gave to this game. It’s important that your kids develop a sense of style early. I was a kid when knitted ties came into style. We don’t want that to happen again. The Manscaping Crew at Rockstar really out did themselves with this game.

manhunt2 is Gay…not that there’s anything wrong with it.

Posted in Cool Stuff, Heroes by totaldis on the November 6th, 2007

Rockstar Games is playing to the gay demographic with its latest installment of the manhunt series. I think it’s great that they are getting away from the violence that seems to be so endemic with most of the games that kids are playing these days. Here is a short demo of the game…

Even if your teenage boy is not actually gay, you should consider buying him manhunt2 for Christmas because it teaches a lot of valuable interpersonal skills.

Don’t act shocked if your kids ask you to let them buy this game. Some of the marketing is not focused on the homo-erotic gameplay that makes up 99.999% of the game.
