Does Karl Rove have a Blog?
Karl Rove is somebody who has been derisive and dismissive of the blogosphere on occasion. That notwithstanding, I am 99.9999999999% certain that he has at least one blog written under a pseudonym. Suspecting Karl Rove of stuff is not a very productive activity. A lot of people suspect that he is a closeted homosexual.
I think the only way to figure out which blogger is Karl is by process of elimination. I am pretty sure PerezHilton.com isn’t written by Karl Rove. He’s not the fake Steve Jobs either. If you are a blogger and you are NOT Karl Rove, please leave a comment.
Oh, while you’re at it, please comment on my theory that the political genius has chosen to do a stint as a regular citizen at the end of this cycle because he has crunched the numbers and he KNOWS that McCain is going to lose. If he can find the magic bullet to take Obama down and he hands it to the official McCain team, maybe he can be the Golden Boy of Evil politics again. If not, he doesn’t get any loss cooties on him.
A Testimonial for George W. Bush
Here are some kind words for the President of the United States of America…
“I think President Bush is in a line of very thoughtful, proactive conservative presidents who include John Adams, Calvin Coolidge, Ronald Reagan. We have the first president with an MBA degree, and he is an impressive manager. He’s very interested in measuring results, and there is no lack of clarity, which I think makes it easier for those of us who work here. We know what the expectations are. They are always high, and we know exactly what they are.”
-Tim Goeglein, who recently resigned from his position at the White House after being exposed as a chronic plagiarist
Plagiarism is typically thought to be a form of stealing. The Internet and search engines have simultaneously made it easier to plagiarize and easier to get caught. I think that in some way, plagiarism is just as much a form of lying as it is stealing. Tim was a volunteer columnist for the conservative newspaper in his hometown. He had no deadlines or obligations in relation to this endeavor and the subject matter was generally not stridently political. He was found out by a blogging journalist from the same area. She Googled an obscure name that was in one of Tim Goeglein’s columns and found that he had lifted several paragraphs from another author without attribution. The newspaper investigated and found that the majority of the 38 columns that had been published since 2000 contained plagiarized text.
Here are the attribution for my sources…
FindArticles.com- an interview with Tim Goeglein by Stephen Goode
The New York Times report on Tim’s disgrace and resignation.
It is interesting to note that some people credit Tim with bringing out the evangelical vote in 2004, thus giving Americans four more years of George W. Bush. NYT reports that GWB was saddened to hear that Tim was found out as a thief and a liar and that he has left the White House. Tim had a close working relationship with Karl Rove.
I Report, You Decide
Karl Rove will be working for Fox News. His first big assignment will be contributing commentary to coverage of Super Tuesday.
The Daily Show writers are on strike and I can’t think of anything funny to say about this news. He will fit in. I think it may be part of a political tactic, not just a career move. Please, please comment on this story.
Edit: Rove was recently scheduled to give a commencement speech at a high school and there was enough vehement and creative opposition to cause him to reconsider. This is a good sign for the future of America.
Private Citizen Karl Rove
Yeah, that is the title for a post that I was going to make.
When I was trying to find out what was up with the old fart was up to, I started to get bored and I got sidetracked. Then I saw that his former right hand man just left the White House this month. When I did a little research, I started to hate him because he is ten years younger than me. I Googled his name ( and the word gay for some random reason ) and I found an irreverent and sometimes off color blogger by the same name. He is in Virginia, so I am pretty sure it is a different guy. If you like finding random personal blogs that are funny, check out Jennings Rampage. Oh, I don’t think he is gay, he just used the word as slang for lame back three years ago when that was a trend.
Rove Resignation Fails to Grab My Attention
I have made fun of Karl Rove before on this blog. I have also made some serious statements related to the man who is arguably to blame for the Presidency of George W. Bush. It’s a pretty easy argument since he has no doubt taken credit for it on numerous occasions.
The strange thing is that I am not very interested in him at this point in time. His drowning ship exit is just boring and predictable. If he decides to become Britney Spears’ man behind the scenes, I might get back into the Rove watching game.
As a non-American, have have prolonged periods of pushing American Politics off the list of things to which I pay attention. This top news story comes during one of those periods. I would ask all my American readers to avoid shutting it out. Be aware and be active in the affairs of your country.
Perez Hilton Gets Hits: Why?
I have been having some moderate success with another blog of mine and now I am depressed about the pitiful amount of readers that I entertain with this blog. If you are reading this right now, I love you. I really do. But I can’t stand those fickle people who make a decision each and every day NOT to visit TotalDismay.com.
I think that a lot of the people who don’t visit my site tend to check out PerezHilton.com. Those are the people that I should be targeting. At least I would know that the time they spend reading my blog wasn’t eroding the GDP or contributing to child neglect.
So, my plan is to steal readers from Perez Hilton. I am going to do this in a scientific way. I will try adopting one key aspect of Perez Hilton’s blog and measuring it’s effect on traffic. Today I am going to adopt the MS Paint method of making a regular photograph into a substantively changed commentary.
Load’O'crap Tuesdays: NoGoodTV
For a long time now, I have been taking every chance I could find to suggest to my readers that they avoid watching the MOST VIEWED on YouTube. I avoid it as much as possible. The last one I watched was the concert ending montage of home movies of a young Diana Spencer. For the most part the most viewed section of YouTube perpetuates mediocrity.
NoGoodTV is less than mediocre. I want to call them out as being a load’O'crap. They label the majority of their videos as ‘uncensored’… That is total crap. Their videos have to meet the terms of service set out by YouTube, who is owned by Google, who knows ALL about censorship.
Their tactic of putting ‘dirty version’ or ‘uncensored’ on all their videos is about as edgy as ‘You Can’t Do That On Television.’
The saddest part of this is that it works. This crappy television channel type of thing ( I don’t know if there is a TV channel, I don’t watch TV much ) almost always has several videos on the most viewed pages.
Bias in the Media: a Case Study
FOXNews.com headline:
Karl Rove Double-Teamed on Global Warming By Singer Sheryl Crow, Producer Laurie David
This headline clearly labels the liberal Californians as the rude aggressors.
Huffington Post headline:
Karl Rove Gets Thrown Under the Stop Global Warming Bus
This headline leaves the women out entirely while still painting it as an assault on Rove in a glib way.
Washington Post Headline:
At This Dinner, A Dollop of Vitriol
This headline does not name names and implies that the venue was not a place for confrontation.
I’m not really trying to make any insightful point aside from the fact that the news is always given a spin these days.
