Alcohol is a Drug

Posted in Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, Addiction, Johnny Cash by totaldis on the October 19th, 2007

The fact that alcohol is legal and socially acceptable does not make much difference as far its potential effect on your life, your work and your family. An alcoholic IS a drug addict. There is alcohol rehab in Malibu that offers individuated treatment programs unlike the one-size-fits-all stints available at many other rehabs. Cliffside Malibu is there for people who want to overcome this killer disease.

The trouble with many alcoholics it that first step. Admitting that you have a problem is so easy to avoid. You are a social drinker, you just like to party, you can quit any time, you just need a couple to help you relax…

If you have had any adverse life experience that is related to your drinking, than you have to seriously consider the fact that you may have a drinking problem.

If you are looking for a rehab, you have either reached this important step of recognizing your problem…or your family has…or maybe a judge…

I think a residential program has a lot to recommend it. They are usually situated a fair distance from temptation. A rehab like Cliffside Malibu offers a lot of comfort. It has lots of leisure and activity options. I can also understand the advantage of the customized approach that strives to meet the needs of individual visitors. Relapse is a big problem with recovered alcoholics, becasue their drug of choice is so readily available. The likelihood of you going to your nephews wedding and having your cousin offer you a drag off of his crack pipe at the reception is fairly remote, but there is probably going to be wine at the table. Not drinking has to become a way of life.

Family Business

Perez Hilton uploaded a video featuring a phone ‘conversation’ with the estranged father of Lindsay Lohan to YouTube.

This was really more of a press release by the man who spent a portion of Lindsay’s childhood in jail. It’s a press release with plausible deniability if there is any effort to make a civil case related to what was said. I think he may have slipped up when he said “You can quote me.” If he did make actionable statements, he will have to claim it wasn’t even him on the phone if he wishes to avoid liability. He said that his ex-wife is a lying, coke addicted doody head. I am paraphrasing, because he has never said that I could quote him.

Whatever happened to ‘Dibs’?

Hilary Duff has a new album, it is called Dignity. I am not going to tell you what I think of the music, I haven’t heard a note of it.

The reason I am blogging about it is because she had no right to use that word as an album title. Britney Spears had that word on her list of potential album titles. That is essentially the same as calling dibs isn’t it?
Here is the list that Britney compiled. At this point, I am not 100% sure she was being serious about the whole fan voting thing…

1. Omg is Like Lindsay Lohan Like Okay Like
2. What if the Joke is on You
3. Down boy
4. Integrity
5. Dignity

I can see a two potential problems with the first choice. First off, it is a question that lacks a question mark. This punctuation is required even if a question is rhetorical. The second problem is that the question has been definitively answered at this point.

The second choice has the same grammatical error and it makes Britney seem crazy.

The other three choices are reasonable titles for pop albums.

I am going to let my readers decide on a tagline for my blog. Today is the last day to offer a suggestion and possibly win ten bucks.

Lindsay Lohan: Functional Alcoholic

This trailer seems to indicate a reasonably solid acting performance on the part of Lindsay Lohan.

This movie is also notable because it features an actress who became a household pseudonym as a result of YouTube. If you don’t already know about this, see if you can pick her out in the trailer. It would actually be an interesting and possibly profitable experiment to make a feature movie that only starred YouTube celebrities. Not like the lame 777 stuff that was scripted and produced by YouTube types.

Oh Yeah…

By the way, the relentlessly talking about Lindsay Lohan is part of my campaign to steal Perez Hilton’s readers. I need to make a topical YouTube video. Time to strike while the iron is luke warm…

“BE ADEQUITE”

Posted in Lindsay Lohan, Politics by totaldis on the July 25th, 2007

It’s an old thing to be bringing up, but for one week last November, Lindsay Lohan was being ridiculed for her spelling and grammar.

I think that it was mean spirited stuff like this that has driven her to behave so badly.

That and the fact that everyone picks on her about her red haired, freckly phenotype. I personally think that it is wrong for people to do that. Can you imagine if the gossip media started making light of any number of other skin types and hair types? There would be a huge groundswell of moral outrage.

Lindsay Lohan’s First Two Weeks as a Legal Drinker

Posted in Lindsay Lohan by totaldis on the July 24th, 2007

Lindsay Lohan turned 21 this month. That means that she can legally drink alcohol in the State of California.

I hope she is ready to handle this responsiblity. Given the fact that she is accident prone, I would suggest that she avoid drinking and driving at all costs.

Ok, I suspect that Lindsay has had substance abuse issues for several years already. It really disturbs me that Lindsay was able to be so public about her alcohol abuse when she was underage. She was famously underage. I hold the club managers and owners partly responsible for her present situation. I think there was some kind of deal that she was welcome as long as she always carried a water bottle around. I have been told that the water bottle had vodka in it. That is so lame.

Anyway, now she is in a whole lotta trouble.

Perez Hilton Gets Hits: Why?

I have been having some moderate success with another blog of mine and now I am depressed about the pitiful amount of readers that I entertain with this blog. If you are reading this right now, I love you. I really do. But I can’t stand those fickle people who make a decision each and every day NOT to visit TotalDismay.com.

I think that a lot of the people who don’t visit my site tend to check out PerezHilton.com. Those are the people that I should be targeting. At least I would know that the time they spend reading my blog wasn’t eroding the GDP or contributing to child neglect.

So, my plan is to steal readers from Perez Hilton. I am going to do this in a scientific way. I will try adopting one key aspect of Perez Hilton’s blog and measuring it’s effect on traffic. Today I am going to adopt the MS Paint method of making a regular photograph into a substantively changed commentary.

Echo Malibu Drug Rehab

Posted in Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears by totaldis on the May 27th, 2007

This morning comes with the news that yet another young starlet has hit rock bottom. Lindsay Lohan was in a one car accident and she was arrested at a nearby hospital on suspicion of DUI. There was cocaine or something that looked a lot like it on the scene.

You know that teen drug abuse treatment is in the cards for this 21 year old girl whether it is voluntary or court mandated.

Echo Malibu takes a holistic and individualized approach to drug rehabilitation. The facility has experienced professional that treat the underlying causes of addiction, rather than just the resulting behaviors. Lindsay Lohan was in an alcoholics anonymous program during the months leading up to this life changing event. I suspect that she was not fully commuted to succeeding with that program and that it may not have been the best fit for her. I had a personal acquaintance who hit her rock bottom at 18 and went to a detox program with a bunch of grubby old men. They taught her how to play a few card games, but I don’t think she learned anything about herself. Peer counseling can be a very effective way of making people see things about themselves.

U.S.A.D.D.

There is a phenomenon that some celebrities rely on and others dread. The American public has a very short attention span. I was looking at the list of celebrities that I considered worthy of their own category back when this blog was primarily celebrity news and gossip. Many of them do not enter the consciousness of a typical American on even a weekly basis anymore. I don’t watch television. Maybe those various shows that have a capital E in the title remind people.

My point is Britney Spears and lesser entities like Lindsay Lohan use public misbehavior as a device to maintain the public interest. Britney protests the attention, but I think she lives in constant fear of losing it. People like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie live their lives largely in private and are talked about less and less in the tabloids and elsewhere despite the immeasurable degree to which their relationship initially captured the public imagination
