Bias in the Media: a Case Study
FOXNews.com headline:
Karl Rove Double-Teamed on Global Warming By Singer Sheryl Crow, Producer Laurie David
This headline clearly labels the liberal Californians as the rude aggressors.
Huffington Post headline:
Karl Rove Gets Thrown Under the Stop Global Warming Bus
This headline leaves the women out entirely while still painting it as an assault on Rove in a glib way.
Washington Post Headline:
At This Dinner, A Dollop of Vitriol
This headline does not name names and implies that the venue was not a place for confrontation.
I’m not really trying to make any insightful point aside from the fact that the news is always given a spin these days.
It’s Hard to Make a Stand
It’s very unfortunate that a really good cause has already taken the name ONE. Sheryl Crow could have used it for her campaign to get us all to use only ONE square of toilet tissue when we do our business.
Having dated Kid Rock makes her an authority on Ass Wipes.
There have been other celebrities with even better ideas in the past. Laurie David, wife of Larry David has suggested foregoing straws and tops on our fast food beverages. This is a good idea. Trying to eat food that is produced as locally as possible is another great idea, it doesn’t matter how green your veggies are if it takes gallons of diesel to get them.
